Knowing Who I Am In Christ

A Breakdown Of The 40 I Ams, Daily Affirmations To Help Transform Your Mind

I am...

I am a child of God

(Romans 8:16)

The witness of the Spirit is the inner assurance of God’s truth.  God uses this Ministry of the Holy Spirit to convince of truths that cannot be understood other than by divine help “Revelation”.

I am a new creature

(2 Corintians 5:17)

When a person comes into vital union with the risen and glorified Lord, he is a new creation and perceives God in a different way.

I Am A Son of God

(Romans 8:17)

All believers share all of the inheritance together.  They also have the promise of glorification if lives are lived devotedly and sacrificially unto the Lord.

I Am More than a Conqueror

(Romans 8:37)

Jesus did the work and we received the prize.

I Am Saved by Grace through Faith

(Ephesians 2:8)

The grace of God is the expression of his goodness toward the undeserving.  Grace means unmerited favor.  We receive “God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.”  Grace is the basis of our salvation.  In salvation we who deserve Hell obtain Heaven.

I Am Forgiven

(Colossians 1:13-14)

Darkness is the religious state in which unbelievers exist, namely that of spiritual ignorance with its immorality and misery.

The Blood reminds us of the enormous price and sacrifice paid to secure their redemption.  Redemption is achieved by the atonement wrought by Jesus death.

I Am An heir to the Blessing of Abraham

(Galatians 3:13-14)

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, that we might receive the blessing of Abraham, i.e. justification, that we might receive the Sprit, the indwelling of the Holy            Ghost.  This implies that when one is justified, he is at the time divinely granted the Holy   Spirit.

I Am An heir of Eternal Life

(1 John 5:11-12)

The assurance of the believer is not based on feelings (though the Christian may “feel” saved) but on the principles of God’s Word.  We know we are saved because Christ is in our hearts, because of the witness of the Word of God, because of the answered prayer, because of our understanding of scripture, because we keep His commandments, and because we love the brethren.

I am casting all my cares on Jesus

(1 Peter 5:7)

God tells us not to worry because which one of us can change even a hair on our head. Worry can lead us into being double minded.  Worry also leads to doubt and doubt into unbelief.

I am getting my needs met by Jesus

(Psalms 91:11)

He shall give his angels charge over you.

I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might

(Ephesians 6:10)

The spiritual battle Christians are engaged in exists from now until the Lord’s return. We are to let ourselves constantly be strengthened by the Lord, more precisely by his mighty power.

I am doing all things through Christ who strengthens me

(Philippians 4:13)

We go through various situations, and God gives us strength to be content in them all, trying and perplexing though they may be.  Paul learned to adapt to his various ever-changing circumstances.  He knew how to live skillfully on little or in prosperity.

I am Justified

(Romans 5:1)

God and the believer are no longer at enmity but have reconciled. We have peace with God. Now we can come directly into his presence. By Christ we gain entrance and acceptance before the father.

I am Sanctified

(1 Corinthians 1:2)

We are made Holy by virtues of our relationship with God.

I am redeemed from the curse of the law

(Galatians 3:13)

All that attempt to secure salvation by meritorious works fails to obey the law perfectly. Complete obedience to the law is impossible for sinful man. Only Christ can deliver us from the law of sin and death.

I am delivered from the power of darkness

(Colossians 1:13)

Darkness is the spiritual sate of unbelievers.

I am an overcomer by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of my Testimony

(Revelation 12:11)

The believer can and will overcome Satan through the Blood of Christ and their witness.

I am daily overcoming the devil

(1 John 4:4)

Christ indwells the believers; Satan is likewise the lord of his own followers, but Christ is greater than he who wreaks havoc in the world.  (Have overcome) is the perfect tense stressing the abiding nature of their victory.  Their strength lies in the fact that they are born of God.

I am a Laborer together with God

(1 Corinthians 5:21)

God follows workers.  God uses us to operate in this natural world.

I am not moved by what I see

(2 Corinthians 4:18)

What we see with our natural eyes is subject to change because they are temporal. But that  which is unseen is eternal (God, Heaven, Angels).

I am walking by faith and not by sight

(2 Corinthians 5:7)

We are not moved by what we see; it’s our belief in God that motivates us.

I am casting down vain imaginations

(2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

Destroying imaginations (false arguments) or strong holds in the mind (slave mentality) to the obedience to God’s Word, his ways, purpose and plan for our lives.

I am bringing every thought into captivity

(2 Corinthians 10:5)

We bring our thoughts to the obedience of God’s Word, ways, purpose and plans. Our thoughts lines up with the Word of God.

I am being Transformed by the renewing of my mind

(Romans 12:1-2)

We are to resist being pounded into the mold or the present thinking, value systems and conduct of the world.  We renew our minds by reading the Word of God.

I am above only and not beneath

(Deuteronomy 28:3)

When we follow his commandments, God will make us to be the heads of our situations.

I am blessed with all Spiritual Blessings

(Ephesians 1:3)

Blessed here means “worth of praise” when God blesses man, He confers benefits upon him.  When man blesses God, he attributes Praise to him. God has blessed us. When?  In eternity past. Where are these blessings?  In heavenly places. As Christians, our citizenship, high priest, and inheritance all are in heaven. As his treasure and affection are in heaven so also the Christian blessings are in heaven. These spiritual benefits were granted to the believer and are retained in the heavens for him being progressively dispersed to him on earth in accordance with his needs and Christian growth.

I am observing and doing the Lord’s commandments

(Deuteronomy 28:12)

If we do things God’s way, we would come out ahead.  God has laid out in his Word how we are to live.  He told us to let the land lay but we didn’t and now we are eating and yet we are starving.  He has even given us instructions on how to be in marriage and if we follow his instructions, we will have successful marriages.

I am Blessed coming in and Blessed going out

(Deuteronomy 28:6)

There is a blessing in obedience when we hearken diligently to God’s Word.

I am Redeemed from the hands of the enemy

(Psalms 102:2)

God’s people are collected from all worldly powers into their present position as His chosen.

I am Exercising my authority over the enemy

(Luke 10:19)

The disciple’s power over demons demonstrates that Jesus decisively breaks through Satan’s power.

I am Establishing God’s Word here on earth

(Matthew 16:19)

Declare forbidden (bind) or to declare allowed (loosed).  We are to continue on earth the work of Christ in preaching the gospel and declaring God’s will to men.  Because we are armed with the same authority as Jesus, and because we have the inner witness, we are able to declare the Word of God.

I am Blessing the Lord at all times and continually Praising Him with my mouth

(Psalms 34:1)

No matter what the situation, no matter what the problem is, good times or bad “I will say     that the Lord is Good and His mercy endureth forever.”
